Edgecrusher is a heavy-, power-, speed- and thrash metal band from Germany that got formed somewhere in 2002. The band reminds me more than just often to the long gone Bay Area thrash metal from bands such as Megadeth and (old) Metallica for instance. Nice licks, mid-tempo drums and heavy riffs are the basis for this comparison. Further they sound a little more "modern" due to the semi-growls of singer Igor. Who is - sad enough - the weakest link of the band. The music on the CD is just above average - there is still enough to do, but because the nice Bay Area sound and production it wins that "little extra" with the atmosphere. I just think the vocals doesn't really fit in the music, it is pretty clear that he can't reach the level with his vocals and definitely not with the clean parts that are woven into the music every now and then. So, it is clear that you shouldn't expect anything renewing or very breathtaking, just some old school metal with below average vocals. There is still enough to do for the band but this is definitely a nice start as well. That's why I'm pretty curious to future recordings.
